Basic Space is delighted to present Eleanor McCaughey for our October BASIC TALK - 12.30pm on Friday the 8th of October 2026, TU Dublin, Grangegorman Campus, D7.

Born in Dublin, Ireland. Eleanor McCaughey studied at TU, Dublin. Through a multifaceted practice she explores thematic threads surrounding the body, identity and place, using symbols and metaphors that best express personal narratives. Selected exhibitions include Panorama Europa, The Glucksman, 2026, ‘When you open your door to a mountain’ Solo 2025, Kevin Kavanagh Gallery. Eleanor McCaughey is a recipient of the Fingal CoCo Bursary 2019-24, Arts Council Ireland Bursary Award 2019-2023 & 2026, Culture Ireland 23, Fingal CoCo/ RHA Residency 2022, Temple Bar Project Award 2021, and Next Generation Award 2018. Her work is represented at the OPW, Arts Council Ireland, Public Art Agency Sweden.

Curated by Basic Space in partnership with the Hugh Lane Gallery, BASIC TALKS is an open platform for lectures, workshops, presentations and performances. For the months of October, November and December 2026, Hugh Lane Gallery & Basic Talks are delighted to have the Basic Talks programme hosted by the TU Dublin School of Art & Design, Grangegorman, Dublin 7.

This talk is presented as part of the HLG Explore & Learn offsite programmes during the Gallery’s period of temporary closure. 

How to get to TU Dublin:

TU Dublin School of Art and Design is located in the East Quad building, Grangegorman campus, Dublin 7 (D07 XFF2).

The talk will be held in room EQ-203 located on the second floor and is directly opposite the main lifts - you can also use the maze map to find room EQ-203.
